Dr. Theresa Egbunu

Dr. Theresa's journey into the realm of security began on June 1, 1994, with her enlistment into the Department of State Services. Over the years, she has ascended through various key positions, showcasing her exceptional skills and leadership acumen. Notable roles include serving as the Assistant Director at the Regional Intelligence Fusion Unit in Abuja, a role that saw her representing Nigeria and collaborating with representatives from countries like Chad, Niger, Cameroon, Benin, and Nigeria fusing intelligence on way to combat insecurity in the region. Her global engagement extended to working with the Multi-National Joint Task Force, Lake Chad Basin Commission, and Strategic Partners from the United Kingdom, United States of America, and France.
Dr. Theresa's diverse experience includes serving as the Acting Director Operations, Acting Assistant Director, Internal Security, as well as Administration and Logistics at the National Assembly and others. Her commitment to knowledge and academic excellence is evident in her impressive educational background which includes: M.Sc. in Business Administration from the University of Abuja (2012), M.A. in Peace and Security Studies from the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies (CPSS), University of Ilorin, PGD in Accountancy from Enugu State University of Science and Technology (2002), B.Sc. in Accounting from the National Open University of Nigeria (2019), HND in Accountancy from Federal Polytechnic, Idah (1991), among others. She has valuable experiences having held the Account Department of the DSS for years.
Additionally, Dr. Theresa's pursuit of professional development includes a multitude of certifications and courses such as: Doctorate Degree from Learn to Live Business School in 2023, Fellow of the Security Institute (fsi) with the Executive Intelligence Management Course (EIMC) 13 from the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS) in 2020, participation in Operation Haskebiu Jaji in Kaduna State, various certifications in areas such as intelligence management, regional intelligence fusion on counter terrorism, piracy and advanced interrogation, among others. Her quest for excellence is not confined to national borders. She has attended international seminars in countries such as Ghana, Benin Republic, Cameroon, Niger, Chad, USA, France, United Kingdom and United Arab Emirate, enriching her perspective and expertise.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Dr. Theresa finds joy in reading and actively engages in volleyball, reflecting a balance between her commitment to national security and personal well-being. She is married and blessed with kids.
