Rt. Revd. Dr. Christian Onyeka Onyia

Bishop Christian Onyeka Onyia started his primary school education with the Community Primary School, Ngwo and later moved to Ugwuaku Primary School in Ngwo. His secondary education took him to Colliary Comprehensive Secondary School Ngwo from 1988-1990 for Junior Secondary School one to three (JSS1-3). He attended the famous Nigeria Military School, Zaria for his Senior Secondary School (SS1-3) in the year 1990-1993.
His quest for the things of God caused him to join the ministry as a church teacher with St. Mark’s Church Oghe, in Ezeagu. From there he was transferred to St. Peter’s Ezema – Olo. His superior kept watch on him and found him suitable with the zeal to serve God in faithfulness, he was then sent to Theological Institution for Pastoral Training and Ministry.
Bishop Christian Onyeka Onyia attended Paul’s University College, Awka where he obtained his Diploma in Theology and Diploma in Religious Studies with University of Nigeria Nsukka. He also had his Bsc, Msc and PhD in Management with the Univeristy of Nigeria, Enugu Campus.
Under the episcopacy of the Rt. Revd, Professor Evans Jonathan Ibeagha as the Lord Bishop of Nike Diocese, Bishop Christian Onyeka Onyia was preferred a Canon of the Church of Nigeria in 2007 and made an Archdeacon in the Diocese in the year 2009. He worked meritoriously as Canon Residential in Cathedral Church of St. Cyprian to become the Archdeacon of the Cathedral Church of St. Cyprian for years.
He also laboured at St. Mark’s Church, Emene from 2011 to 2015 both as the Vicar and the Archdeacon of the Emene South Archdeaconry. In the year 2015, he was transferred to Christ Church, Ugbene to hold forth as the Vicar and the Archdeacon of the Nike East Archdeaconry still 2019 when he was elected on the 8th February as the Bishop of Nike Diocese. He was consecrated on 29th of March, 2019 at the Cathedral Church of St. David’s Akure and enthroned on the 5th May, 2019 at the Cathedral Church of St. Cyprians, Abakpa-Nike, Enugu.
Since then, Bishop Christian Onyeka Onyia has been working assiduously to see that the mandate of Jesus to His Church to “Go ye into the world and make disciples of all nations” is carried out by the Churches in Nike Diocese and beyond. He is currently as well, the Supervisory Bishop of Enugu Diocese.
Bishop Christian Onyeka Onyia got married on 29th April, 2006 to a lovely charming lady – Barrister Mrs. Nneka Onyia (Nee Onoh), a litigation lawyer by Profession. Barr. Mrs. Nneka Onyia is very much into advocacy for the protection of the volunerable groups such as women and children. She is very good at public speaking. Apart from academic thesis for the award of various degrees she has acquired in her academic years, she also had several publications with International Federation of women lawyers. She co-authored a book on “Mainstreaming Community needs into the budgetry proceedings in Enugu State.” Their marriage is blessed with four lovely and charming children – Chisom Chukwuebuka, Iruoma Ebubechukwu, Kamsiyochukwu Ozioma and Kosisochukwu Tobechukwu.
